A FRONTIER ALL ITS OWN
Nestled in the foothills of Oregon’s Cascade Mountains, Butte Creek Ranch is a place where adventure meets authenticity. Spanning an area larger than both Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure combined, the ranch is a year-round working horse ranch and the home of the Butte Creek Cub Scout summer camp. It takes its name from Butte Creek, which winds for more than a mile through the heart of the property, offering a scenic backdrop to every sunrise and sunset.

THE HEART OF THE RANCH
At the center of the ranch lies its iconic Old West–style Main Street, where time seems to slow down. Here you’ll find the main dining hall where Scouts share meals and stories, the Trading Post stocked with camp mementos, and a full-service kitchen and offices that keep camp life running smoothly. The Main Street also features a fully equipped medic lodge, storage facilities, and a modern shower house—complete with private changing rooms, heated floors, and on-demand hot water.

Beyond the buildings, Main Street opens onto the parade grounds where the flags rise each morning and fall each evening, and a nearby campfire stage and amphitheater that seats over 200 guests, glowing each night with song and laughter.
A HOME FOR HORSES
Butte Creek is the year-round home of 70 to 80 horses owned by the Cascade Pacific Council. The ranch’s equestrian facilities rival those of any professional operation, featuring a large modern horse barn, a spacious hay barn, open pastures, and an arena for training and events. The wranglers who care for these horses live right on-site in a year-round bunkhouse that includes sleeping quarters, a common area, and a full kitchen—creating a tight-knit ranching community that keeps Butte Creek alive in every season.

CAMP LIFE AND ADVENTURE
During the summer months, Butte Creek transforms into one of the most unique Cub Scout camps in the nation. Campers stay in eight themed campsites—called homesteads—each with cozy cabins and nearby restroom facilities. Staff live among the tall pines in their own cabins, surrounded by shade and quiet forest trails.

The activity field buzzes with energy as campers try their hand at archery, BB guns, gold panning, pioneering, and other classic camp adventures. But what truly sets Butte Creek apart is its trail-riding program—giving every Scout the chance to saddle up and experience the freedom of the open range. Each group spends three nights at camp, visiting eight activity stations and creating memories that last a lifetime.

MORE THAN A CAMP
Butte Creek isn’t just a destination—it’s a community. When Cub Scouts return home, they carry with them more than patches or stories; they bring back confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging. Outside the summer months, the ranch remains open to Scout groups year-round for camping trips, horsemanship programs, and weekend adventures, continuing its mission to teach responsibility, stewardship, and the spirit of the frontier.
